I bought this from the original owner, who bought 2 of these brand new, drove the light blue one into the 1990s until it was in an accident. Technically the original owner is Saddam Hussein, but he never took delivery. This car went into service as a brand new car at 10 or 12 years old. He had a spare of his exact car. It was originally navy blue but he hated the colour so had it sp rayed black when new then mothballed it for a decade. It still has only 66,000 km on the clock. |(metric only, 200 km/ h certified speedo) Just came back from the bodyshop because of a tree branch incident in storage. It belongs to an oppo who’s never posted named BenchRacer. He swapped the 2.25 open diff for a 3.43 posi and it woke up considerably (in factory trim these get impossibly good fuel mileage) v6-spec T-5 transmission is in the future, a v8 is not. These handl e surprisingly well, and this one has in addition to the heavy duty suspension, had the F41 handling package sway bars and gussets added from another Malibu when the axle was swapped.
Heavy duty heating/cooling system, Cop brakes, cop shocks, Taxi interior tweed seats, It’s got a 229 inch plant so its good on gas, factory deleted catalytic converter so it runs good on Canadian beer. Also 4 speaker AM/FM casset te (fancy stuff in 1981). Those rims also belong to me but I think they’re now on their forever car. Please tell BenchRacer how cool his taxi is.

The far left one is the “turn all the way around” pedal.

I think they all sat at the docks in Halifax waiting for the slow boat to Iraq that never came.

That thing is in seriously good condition. I really love the crazy history behind these.

The F41 suspension
package on the A/G bodies really did wonders for handling, very underappreciated cars

Reminds me of the Malibu my parents had. It was a 1980, two door, auto, 305 . Eventually they gave it to my brother, and he drove it until the back end rusted out.
